Charles and Julie Link

Shannon Family Mortuary

The OCFDA is excited to welcome one of our newest members Shannon Family Mortuary! Shannon Family Mortuary has proudly served Orange County since 1933 and is under the new ownership of Charles and Julie Link. The Shannon Family Legacy lives on but has an exciting new Old Towne Orange Location. With many years of experience in the funeral industry, Charles and Julie have great plans for this new chapter of the Shannon Family Mortuary story.

Charles’ career in the mortuary industry began at Trademark Carriage Services in 2003. Through Trademark, Charles had the opportunity to work with 60 different locations and received invaluable training under the leadership of Marc Huefner. Ultimately, this lead Charlie to Shannon Family Mortuary in 2011. In 2015 Julie also joined the Shannon Family Mortuary team and became dedicated to learning the industry. Julie is a licensed funeral director and also has a business degree.

Together, Julie and Charles dreamed of owning their own business and in 2019 this dream was realized. Don Shannon, who owned Shannon Family Mortuary at the time, had waited to retire until he found the perfect new owners to take his place. Don expressed “I am grateful the Link’s will continue running the business as a privately-owned company that offers the same high quality, personalized funeral and memorial services that Orange and the surrounding community have come to know.”

We are excited for Shannon Family Mortuary’s new location, bright future and membership with the OCFDA.

1 -800-Autopsy

Vidal Herrera's dictum, "The deceased must be protected and given a voice" guides the mission of his company. With the overall decrease in autopsies nationwide, Vidal and his team offer services to safeguard the deceased and their family members.

With one phone call to 1-800-Autopsy, a funeral director can connect the family with a wide scope of postmortem services including forensic and disinterment autopsies; postmortem neurological (brain only) autopsies to clearly diagnosis neurological disorders; postmortem mesothelioma (lung only) autopsies to examine for asbestos fibers, fetal autopsies and more. Take a moment to read all about the services they offer at www.1800autopsy.com/services/

As funeral service professionals we know there is never "closure", but private autopsies can offer insight, answer lingering questions and even shed light on family medical history, which can be instrumental to grieving families.

We cannot thank Vidal and his team enough for their dedication to our community, to our families and to OCFDA. AND for your tamales!
